Duke Sylvester Pussywillow the Alley Cat

There are many examples of animals being humanized throughout history for religious, literary and artistic purposes. In ancient times, anthropomorphizing gods gave people a better understanding of their deities. In recent times, illustrations, artwork and movies that feature animals in clothing comment on current political states. And, of course, cat and dog costume contests abound in our country that let owners imagine their pets as children and companions. My pieces are playful examples of anthropomorphism to bring humor to dark times in our society.
