David Freda - Keynote Speaker

“My Journey So Far”

David Freda has had a life devoted to his art as well as the nurture and respect for wildlife. A rock climber, a taxidermist, a plant and orchid grower, a falconer – these are a few of the skills he has developed alongside his awe-inspiring skills as an enamellist and goldsmith. He will take us through his journey, starting with some early interests and culminating in the spectacular pieces he has cast, fabricated, and enameled. He is a modern master at depicting flowers - especially orchids, butterflies, and more.  His work has been shown internationally, carried by Tiffany’s New York, and he has clients around the world. In addition to his talk, David will bring an assortment of cast pieces and demonstrate his enameling techniques. He is a true Renaissance man, and a joy to see and hear.

Live and Silent Auctions

We will once again be conducting a Live and Silent Auction at the Conference. We always have a great turnout for the auction and we cannot make it happen without you! If you would like to donate to the auction please reach out to the office.

Alchemy7

The 2024 Conference and Exhibition, titled Alchemy7, will be similar to previous conferences; the morning sessions filled with a keynote, panels, speakers and a general membership meeting. The afternoons consist of "breakout" sessions where multiple presentations and/or demonstrations on various technical or marketing topics are held every hour. Evening events include an opening reception for the Exhibitions, our Saturday night auctions and the Sunday night closing party. The ever popular pin swap begins as attendees arrive and a vendor's area will be available throughout the conference to browse and purchase enamel related items and books.

The 19th Biennial International Juried Enamel Exhibition and 15th Juried Student Exhibition will again accompany the conference. The jurors for the exhibition will be Ruth Ball, Cindy Eid, and Sarah Loch-Test. In addition, a presenter's invitational exhibition and an "Instant Gallery" will be open for public viewing. The Instant Gallery consists of 1 or 2 pieces of enamel work brought by conference attendees. This work may be for sale and may be accompanied by a small photo of the maker in order to facilitate networking between attendees.

The Enamelist Society holds a raffle, a silent auction and a live auction during the conference. Donated items include enamels, tools, books and, of course, enamel pieces. Auction proceeds help support Society grants and educational activities.

Instant Gallery

The Show

Everyone attending the conference is invited to bring one or two enamel pieces to the "Instant Gallery to introduce your work to the other conference go-ers and the general public. This is the 8th Instant Gallery associated with our conference.

A great feature of the Instant Gallery presentation is the ability to have a small picture (1 x 1½) of the artist displayed with the work and information about the piece to make connections easy and answer the question "How did they do that?". Please bring a photo with your art but it is optional.

Your piece can be Not For Sale (NFS) or For Sale. Sale arrangements are to be made between buyer and seller. All pieces will remain on display until after the closing event on Sunday night of the conference.

Security Of Work

Your work will be handled with utmost care. The gallery will be monitored during open hours. When the Instant Gallery is unattended, it will be locked. The show will be dismantled at the end of the conference.

Please pick up your work and signage during the specified times on Sunday evening. Your receipt serves as a quick ID when you pick up your piece(s).

When

The Instant Gallery will be open during the conference at stated times so everyone will have the opportunity to see all the artwork. The Instant Gallery, when open, will also be available for viewing by the public.

Volunteer

For the Instant Gallery to be open as many hours as possible, it requires volunteers to sit. Sitting the gallery will give you ample time to see the whole Instant Gallery show while performing a necessary function by monitoring it. Help is also needed to set up and return artwork. Please call the Office at 770-807-0742 or email them to volunteer.

Delivery Of Your Piece

So we can have time to mount a really terrific show, please deliver your piece as soon as you can after arrival! Signs will be posted to direct you to the Instant Gallery.

When you deliver your artwork, bring your one or two enameled pieces and a small picture of yourself (1 x 1 ½ can be cut from a larger photo). Label the back of the photo and the back or bottom of you artwork with your name.

Wall pieces must be ready for hanging. Please bring any special display support that your piece needs.
