Glimmer and Grit Virtual Workshop- Student
Thursday, July 23 and Monday July 27, 1:45-3:45pm ET
Glimmer and Grit: Adding Texture to the Enamelled Surface with Amanda Denison
This workshop is experimental in nature. We will explore how texture, applied both before and after firing enamel, can enhance the enamelled surface.
Using a restricted number of enamels we will work with substances – sand and other materials, to see how they can be combined with enamel surfaces or mixed with enamel powder to produce textural effects. We will also work with pre-textured metal and apply enamel to enhance and highlight these features.
The focus is on exploring and understanding how different materials react when fired with enamel to produce unique, highly textured finishes.
Skill level: Intermediate- Some Experience and Basic Understanding of Enameling Needed
