I am a metalsmith and jewelry artist whose work is deeply rooted in cultural heritage, material exploration, and storytelling. Originally from Ghana, my artistic journey began at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (K.N.U.S.T) in Kumasi, where I developed a strong foundation in traditional and contemporary metalworking techniques. Currently pursuing an MFA in Metalsmithing and Jewelry at Indiana University, I continue to push the boundaries of my craft, drawing inspiration from nature, culture, history, and symbolism.
My creative process is an intricate dialogue between concept, material, and technique. I work primarily with metals, incorporating indigenous motifs, textures, and forms that reflect the richness of my heritage. I often experiment with unconventional materials, merging them with metal to create pieces that challenge conventional jewelry aesthetics. My hands-on approach to making involves forging, casting, and fabricating, allowing the material to guide my design decisions organically.
At the core of my work is a desire to preserve and reinterpret cultural narratives through contemporary jewelry and sculptural objects. I am particularly fascinated by the power of adornment as a means of identity, status, and personal expression. Each piece I create serves as a bridge between tradition and modernity, carrying stories that resonate across generations
