The materials I wield begin the conversation between you and me. In making, I assert my being of chaos through precision, strength, and labor. I intend to leave that mark of experience and time in extending the self – a belief that to illustrate stream of consciousness is to leave proof of life; making is marking. The work is not separate, only a physical manifestation of my internal landscapes. My practice utilizes copper, brass, and silver in processes such as raising, enameling, and silversmithing. I illustrate and tell stories wherever possible in my work as a way to understand both my memories, and feelings I have yet to name. My method in creating jewelry and vessels is based on the destruction of the past self, to remake, to never remain the same - in the sense of rebirth and growth.

Daisy MacKay Gulla, a BFA candidate at Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boston, MA (MassArt), is a contemporary metalsmith and enamelist. She uses the processes of enameling, raising, and delicate silver fabrication to navigate the balance of function, sentiment, and ornament in non-ferrous metals. Her practice draws on ritual, historic illustration, and material research. Daisy’s dedication to her practice has been recognized through awards including the Elaine Fontes Memorial Scholarship (2021) and the Paul Felopulos Artisan Award (2021). Daisy has exhibited her work in numerous juried shows, including Tiny, Shiny, and Strong (2025 - Boston, MA), the MassArt All School Shows (2024, 2025 - Boston, MA), and the MassArt Fine Arts 3D Show (2025 - Boston, MA). Before MassArt, she worked as a Group Leader and Residential Counselor at Blueberry Cove Camp in Tenants Harbor, ME, where she led art-focused programs and taught environmental stewardship through creativity. Through thoughtful craft and design, Daisy aims to create objects that invite use, care, and long-term companionship.
