Amelia Saghir is a jeweler and maker whose current work shifts jewelry into the form of companions that inhabit the thresholds of the body. Her practice is driven by the fluid logic of ecological systems and the sensory experience of existing within them. Based in Providence, Rhode Island, she is interested in how natural rules of growth, attachment, and communication can be reconfigured into liminal beings that live between the familiar and the strange. She seeks to translate these observations into wearable forms, using materials such as metal, enamel, and plastic to create pieces that act as both protective presences and relational partners.
Amelia is currently pursuing her undergraduate degree in Jewelry and Metalsmithing from Rhode Island School of Design. By using the language of jewelry to express ideas of care and companionship, her work asks what it means to never move through the world alone.
