In this workshop we will explore innovative techniques to create unique enameled textures and three-dimensional forms. Students will experiment with enameled surface textures such as sugar firing and sgraffito. Through demonstration and hands-on exploration, we will manipulate the metal surface using stamping, piercing, chasing and repousse to create dynamic textured surfaces suitable for enameling. We will learn methods to form and shape copper in three dimensions, utilizing cold connections such as tube rivets and tab construction. Students will experiment with applying dry and liquid form enamel to their three-dimensional forms to produce captivating sculptural pieces. By the end of the workshop, students will complete a collection of samples or jewelry pieces that will serve as valuable starting points for enhancing the depth and dimensionality of their own enameling projects. Prior experience with sawing metal is recommended.
