Conference 2009 Information

2009 Biennial Enamelist Society Conference/Workshops/Exhibitions

When:

August 4-6, 2009  - Pre-Conference Workshops

August 7-9, 2009 - The Enamelist Society Conference

August 10-12, 2009 - Post-Conference Workshops

July 22 - August 22, 2009 - Juried Exhibitions (opening reception, August 7, 2009)

Where:

It is with much anticipation that the conference moves to a major metropolitan area, Oakland, California.

The Oakland Downtown Marriott will host the conference.

The Crucible will host most of the workshops.

KVO, in Santa Rosa, California, will host 2 workshops in their industrial firm.

Oakland is across the bay from San Francisco. It is a vibrant and complicated city which has a newly re-developed city center. Oakland is just minutes away from downtown SF by BART (subway) and no more than 3 hours away form all the tourist attractions one could possibly want to fit into a vacation/conference combination. Driving and parking is relatively easy in downtown Oakland. Restaurants are great and abundant.

The weather in August is usually mild and sometimes cool with fog coming in under the Golden Gate Bridge in the afternoon. It rarely rains in August in the Bay Area.

The Oakland International airport, which is undergoing major expansion, is accessible by BART as is SFO (San Francisco International Airport). Southwest airlines uses Oakland as a major hub. Airfare should be very affordable both for U. S. attendees and foreign attendees. Oakland is also on a major interstate highway. Amtrak services the Bay Area as well. For most attendees traveling by air it won’t be necessary to rent a car.

This page will contain updated conference information.  Stay tuned!
